Early Life and College

Gary Dwayne Payton was born on July 23, 1968, in Oakland, California. He played college basketball for Oregon State University from 1986 to 1990.

NBA Career

Payton was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics with the 2nd overall pick in the 1990 NBA draft. He played for the SuperSonics (1990-2003), Milwaukee Bucks (2003), Los Angeles Lakers (2003-2004), Boston Celtics (2004-2005), and Miami Heat (2005-2007).

• NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1996)
• Led the Seattle SuperSonics to the 1996 NBA Finals
